Yet another welcome message

Thanks to Caresse for telling me about this service - although she hasn’t convinced me to switch blog services, I had another idea cooking up in my head. All it took, probably, is less than a week’s worth of time, and more than enough imagination to make up for it.

Everybody, welcome to Shale. It’s this little magazine for, apparently, those who cannot be content with anything less. If you’ve passed by The Upper Blog - which I have been updating for the past twelve months or so - then you’ll realize that it’s been a big mish-mush of stuff concerning my little goings-on, as well as anything else I have a comment on. Well, it’s not going to get a huge makeover and be a dumping ground of all the mush that’s been currently happening in my life, but instead it’s where Shale comes in - extended coverage, all the time.

Back in high school I made a print version of this thing - twenty pages made up of really small pieces of paper stapled together - that talked about school happenings, issues and the occasional controversy. It didn’t really take off, thanks to my short attention span, but my classmates were noticing it, as much as they noticed its much larger cousin (think of short bond paper stapled together). Think of this, then, as another little attempt at creating magazine-like content that probably wouldn’t make any sense in the end.

Just this month a lot is going to happen. There’s the general elections back here in DLSU - which means, yes, it’s back to me doing a little bit of journalism in its special blog - and then there’s that documentary project we’re working in, as well as three birthdays, a search for a new mobile phone, and a lot more. Expect to see here stuff that read a lot more like a magazine than an impulsive run-down of events (although my blog isn’t always like that). In an update you might see an extended review of something I might have watched (and you might have read about on Fifth Year Holler), or my thoughts on any issue, or my adventures on a place I’ve been in for the first (or second) time. Or, you might see a little interview on my blockmates, like you need to know them any better - but I beg you, this is possibly my little attempt at publication supremacy. This time I’ll ask you to take this thing seriously. In fact I’ve got a lot of ideas buzzing around my head, only needing approval, probably, either from me or from you guys (because, well, you’ll power the contents in some way).

I’d be more than happy to receive your reactions, your contributions, anything - as long, of course, as it isn’t any offensive and it doesn’t really fit into anything.

So then, before I get all schmoozy - whatever that means - welcome again to Shale, and I wish we all enjoy weeks, months, even years of stuff that would make us really think. Or maybe just wonder in confusion. Whichever way, it’s all gladly accepted.
