Breakfast in the afternoon
September 27, 2006(In the spirit of an apparent resparking of interest in Shale, this entry was originally written between 16.01 and 16.25 of 26 September, and is tweaked in places to look better and to adapt later developments.)
The Breakfast shoot is in peril of being moved. It seems my moment of happiness - I have a jacket with me and it’s been useless, the entire day, for everyone but Meh - is going to be their downfall.
Out of persistent boredom I ended up sitting three gaps away from Kizia, somewhere near the auditorium. She’s hosting this segment for Studio 23’s Breakfast, and somehow the few who knew have been sort-of excited, me included. When we found out about this, Jino persisted in calling her a superstar - previously she’s been busy doing voiceovers from Kraft (apparently), thanks to (persumably) connections from with the Green Media Group, where she is a member of the hosting pool. Ironically, she’s wearing a red shirt with her make-up, not green - and she’s just seated here. And the thunder threatens to make its presence felt more.
The funny thing is, the people from LSDC-Street want their little component attached to the university PA system, commonly used to broadcast the Angelus twice a day. They still can’t seem to start, but the radio’s being moved around to find a much more audible spot, not to mention a spot with a plug in it. The skies are still dark, and I’m just writing stuff as Kizia takes off to start her entire speech thing.
Or are they done? The action shifts to the bleachers, the dancers get interviewed, and it seems the rain will hold.
Change that - it starts to rain anyway. Or, it could be me feeling one drop from the sky - it doesn’t persist, and everything continues anyway. Threats to shoot at the (much darker) Yuchengco lobby aside, everything pushes through, and the dancers begin dancing. The speaker doesn’t seem loud enough, but everything still continues. People have begun noticing, and some from the higher floors of the La Salle building start to watch. A lot for persistence, apparently.
But are the people waiting for a potential television appearance? I won’t pretend - I’m somehow hopeful it does, especially when considering that Kizia practically invited us earlier to pass by whenever we can. Only I did, and even I didn’t know if it will.
They have finally wrapped up, and the LSDC members run to the fabled tree-back stage, still doing poses, then pressing to another dance number without the component. Jaja, who’s with me by this time, has been amazed enough. She’s on the phone and somehow declares her amazement for one member: “may crush na akong babae,” she said, or something to that effect, jokingly.
Then it starts to rain - really hard. My jacket’s finally found a purpose, but their shoot had to move out in patches. We proceeded to go back to the classroom. The LSDC members settled at the steps of the SPS building, giving out a little prayer. And Kizia disappeared faster than I could sense - probably she’s gone up to the CAO office.
I realize quickly my stalker-like tendencies have returned. Oh, that superstar.
