Major round-up: release two

September 27, 2006

Well, we’ve received a few responses regarding this. To Mirielle: how did this thing become amusing when this is done as lazily as possibly? Anyway, after the fold: the quotes that either came in late or were forgotten, stress showing through, and the people we surprisingly haven’t heard from yet. Plus, we’ve made the entry less stuffier, for your reading convenience, as well as my writing’s.

John’s photography project - along with everybody else in the Thursday class - seem so, so, sooo hard. Thirty-six shots of things that appear as letters, so everything from A to Z, plus the digits 0 to 9, have to be represented. In that order. I’m not sure if what he said here is related, but this one sure was said differently:

“After [seven] hours of shooting, it left me with a drained soul (figuratively).”

For those lucky (or unlucky) enough to take photography, it’s been an SLR camera during breaks looking for things to photograph. Especially for those in that Thursday class - although classes are suspended tomorrow, which means everything gets extended. During Kizia’s Breakfast shoot, Jason was holding his borrowed SLR taking a photo of something, and complaining of the lack of light. Earlier today, Cuyeg, Lau and Malia were looking for objects as well - but Malia isn’t taking the class. Still, she prides in looking for them.

We’ve forgotten a few entries, really - or they were posted quite late. Malia, for one, had this for size:

“First week of classes. One word: Impyerno ampotah! I know major subjects are supposed to be tough, but this is just waaaaaaaayyyyyyy too much. I should not have taken [research], [Literature 2] and [Philosophy 2] altogether in the same term, it’s really burning me out fast. Not to mention that adjusting to a new sleeping territory is quite the pickle. (Notice that I don’t refer to my dorm as a new ‘home’, because it sure isn’t!). I shouldn’t have signed the damn contract when I had the chance.”

Jackie, on te other hand, had a little sentimental thing going:

“We were once the froshies who conquered the corridors of third floor Miguel, grabbing a bite of the expensive turon in between classes to satisfy our hunger, or worse, a cup of Nissin’s Yakisoba and bringing ito to class when the [professor’s] not yet around… talk about the idiosyncrasy of sharing.”

As with everything, this debutante keeps an optimistic vibe on things.

Switching major programs a bit, Jan had this to say:

“I thought the first two weeks of the [second] term would be full of projects that’ll give you headaches, sleepless nights and droopy eyebags. Who cares?”

Stress has started to kill us - well, figuratively, at least. Aside from wads of handouts (especially for the majority who have to read sixty pages’ worth of text for film class), there’s stress regarding research questions - Caresse, again, ends up snoring literally on her blog.

Ariane had this to end her entry:

“Lord, I have so many things to do. Please guide me as I go through them. I’m worried and I’m feeling as stressed as ever.”

Oooh, stress, we’re to flirt with you more.

So who else isn’t here? Before we make the extraordinary mistake of mentioning Huey or Jino - because they aren’t taking up the majors yet - there’s Jaja (but because she’s probably shifting blogs, not to mention she isn’t just thinking about the majors), there’s Jill, and there’s… I can’t think of anybody else much. Who else hasn’t?

We’ll be ending this round-up with something from Kizia’s entry - basically it’s another one of those forgotten entries, but she summed the first term up quite nicely:

“I feel like majors is the true test of time management. All the professors certainly do not hesitate to give work due in short time, which means no second should be wasted…”

Uhm, she’s right. I should stop writing this, then.
