Major round-up: release three
November 5, 2006As I said, the work did kill us, and so did this series for a while. After the fold, photography complaints, research complaints - essentially, stress issues and how we addressed them, four weeks later. We’ve just been through midterms, basically…
The most accurate description of this thing comes from Ale.
“Okay, I know last time I complained that I wasn’t ‘busy enough’… I guess it’s true when they say, ‘be careful what you wish for.’”
John somehow enjoys photography class. Well, initially, at least.
“Sometimes I wonder whether INTRORE is much more easier than FOTOCAM… I just wanna get over this.”
Previously he got a (surprisingly) low midterm grade and resolved to do something about it. Everyone’s been shooting, and shooting some more, during the past few days. And he warns for those taking photography next term:
“There is and will be a shortage [on] black and white film. Kawawa magfo-FOTOCAM next term… that is, if your [professor] will stick to digital, then lucky you!”
Indeed, there have been rumors that FOTOCAM classes would be on digital and celluloid next term. When told, they’d think we’re luckier; on the other hand, I think of otherwise. If anything, classes have been populated by trips to Quiapo for supplies, and nights at the dark room for developing (and ruined film, which means repeating things all over again). And sometimes, to get a creative one-up, this happens. Clarence texted me this yesterday:
“Mga kaibigan! Meron ba kayong kilalang ikakasal ngayong Nobyembre? Maaari n’yo po bang ipaalam sa akin kaagad? Ito po ay para sa aming photo class. Kailangang-kailangan eh. Salamat!”
I asked why. She answered:
“Ang kasal ay aking ‘pinropose’ sa aming propesor para sa aking portfolio. Haha.”
Still some time for the much-needed pun, I guess.
INTRORE students aren’t getting rest either. If anything, this class has a reputation for giving away hell weeks in batches. Some may have been demoralized by really low grades - Karla has, mind you, being under Miss Diaz getting low grades you might not be able to pull up - but they’re still, well, pushing. We are still pushing. Jackie had this to say:
“I feel so numb, so dizzy, so reluctant and perplexed. This week has left me a lot of thoughts to ponder on, but it seems that I don’t even have time to think about small things in life, tidbits of things that make life’s essence incomparable to anything in the world.”
And, as always, the much-needed optimism. Malia, on the other hand - whose research had something to do with cyclists - had this to say:
“My ass hurts!!! It’s been years since I last rode on a bicycle. I can’t sit right, and it’s a big problem when you’re a couch potato like me. At least we’re almost done with our research. I just hope I get enough points to pass the subject or else I’m gonna slit my throat.”
Oh, wait. She’d study on this.
“At least we’ll finish all this research early. Tomorrow we’ll start at 5 am and end at 9 am. Four hours on a bike with the junk collector. Beat that!”
Rumors on this class are persistent as well. If FOTOCAM students would be happy to hear that Miss Diaz probably would focus on the OCM students, then this rumor was quickly squashed.
Oh, and of course, the effects of stress. As Kizia pointed out, the “most terrible combination of all”: pimples and eyebags.
Then again, there’s still time for some enjoyment, and maybe a little mush. Ale had this to say:
“Sa dami ng ginagawa ko, humahanap pa rin ako ng panahong makasama ka.”
Eeeek, mush.
Jackie also had this about the recent flurry of birthdays:
“There was a party at the Yuchengco Lobby. Yeah boy, LR19 owns Yuchengco! Hehe.”
Well, it seems everyone has always been there, with laptops on hand for some. Well, that was in Dhi’s case. It’s the new assembly area, as we move away from the Miguel lobby. Or, you’d see us taking photos.
And, for some consolation to close this thing, something from Ariane:
“Lately I find myself sleeping quite earlier than usual. Well, I guess it’s kind of a good thing since I’ve also been waking up earlier than usual too.”
Then again, next term is coming closer and we’d all lose sleep. No, really now. Like we aren’t losing sleep this term, what more for the next?
